Hello to all the affiliates of the new Special Interest Group (SIG) 17! As the Coordinator, I want to welcome each and every one of you to this first Coordinator's Column of our Perspectives as well as to membership in SIG 17, Global Issues in Communication Sciences and Related Disorders. SIG affiliates are likely involved in many other endeavors, working in a variety of settings, belonging to other SIGs, and approaching this SIG with different agendas and reasons of interest. As a diverse group in professional settings, ages, experiences, and personal perspectives, we have one thread of commonality, interest in the world beyond the United States.
